The President pointed out that the Three Seas Initiative was a strategic tool contributing to the deepening of relations between the countries of the region and the United States, strengthening regional and national security. “Lithuania sees the Three Seas Initiative as a unique regional instrument aimed at deepening strategic cooperation with the United States. The transatlantic link is a prerequisite of our regional security. This platform is intended to boost the region‘s soft power through the development of infrastructure and technology“, the President said.
This year the Three Seas Summit is organized remotely. It will consist of two parts: a political debate of the Presidents and a web forum open to the public.
The Three Seas Initiative, now in its fifth year, brings together twelve countries of the European Union located around the Baltic, Black and the Adriatic Sea. The purpose of the initiative is to stimulate economic cooperation in the region, accelerate the infrastructure development in energy and transport as well as promote digitalization.
This year‘s Three Seas Summit is organized by Estonia.
