“We support the priorities of Germany’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The transatlantic relationship needs to be preserved; there is no alternative to it. Due to attempts to rewrite history and to legitimize current and possible future actions, sanctions against Russia should be maintained until progress is made in the Minsk process. The issue of the Eastern Partnership is also on the agenda," said L. Linkevičius.
The Foreign Ministers also exchanged their views on situations in Syria and in Libya. It was agreed that a permanent dialogue should be maintained and cooperation continued with the NATO ally – Turkey.
The annual Baltic-German Foreign Ministers’ meetings have taken place since 1996. Each year, the meetings have been held by one of the countries. Estonia hosts the annual meeting this year.
