At the donors’ conference, the Lithuanian representative voiced consistent support to the agency that provided vital humanitarian aid, as well as backed its goal of contributing in a targeted manner to help communities affected by conflict in the Middle East.
“Lithuania stands in solidarity with the international community and, bearing in mind the exacerbating humanitarian crisis in refugee camps due to pandemic risks, remains committed to helping UNRWA secure its financial resources to deliver quality services to Palestine refugees,” said R. Murmokaitė.
Lithuania has also announced the allocation of EUR 50, 000 in humanitarian aid to Palestine refugees this year to help reduce the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
UNRWA was established in 1949 to carry out direct relief and works programs for Palestine refugees. Today, some 5.6 million Palestine refugees across the Middle East are eligible for UNRWA services.
