The interlocutors welcomed the close bilateral relations and strong economic ties between their countries. Sweden has been the largest foreign investor in Lithuania over the last several years. The Foreign Minister and the Ambassador agreed that personal contacts between the citizens of Lithuania and Sweden should be further strengthened and the newly-established Sweden-Lithuania Cooperation Fund should help to promote people-to-people links.
It is also important to maintain focus on regional security, defense issues, and close Nordic-Baltic cooperation, as well as to make a joint effort to support our Eastern partners. In this context, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister thanked Sweden for its financial contribution in preparing Lithuania’s medical expert mission to Armenia. This country is particularly affected by the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
