The head of Lithuania’s diplomacy voiced his support for Georgia’s integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures. L. Linkevičius said Lithuania would continue its efforts to maintain the EU priority of the Eastern Partnership and to develop it ambitiously. The Foreign Minister also urged Georgia to participate actively in the upcoming video conferences, along with other countries that had signed their association agreements with the EU – Ukraine and Moldova – and to express rapprochement aspirations.
The Foreign Ministers also discussed the internal political situation in Georgia and the preparation of the parliamentary elections to be held this autumn. L. Linkevičius stressed the importance of upholding the agreement between Georgian authorities and opposition of 8 March to ensure that the elections were held freely and democratically. D. Zalkaliani noted that the necessary amendments to the Constitution and legislation of Georgia would soon be adopted.
