“The Constitution of the Republic of the Two Nations, adopted on May 3, 1791, has gone down in history as the first constitution in Europe and the basic principles enshrined in it and its spirit are still relevant today. Our nations are bound by strong historical ties, the Constitution and the slogan “For our and your freedom” inspired entire generations in the struggle for freedom and independence. Cooperation in the European Union and NATO, based on common values and democratic principles, shows that Poland remains our close neighbor today and shares similar views on many relevant issues. Together, we foster our democracy, defend citizens’ rights and seek to ensure not only our own security but that of all Europeans,” said the President in the message of congratulations.
The President emphasized that friendship of the Lithuanian and Polish people strengthened the foundations of the two states. The President also assured that together we would overcome the pandemic and after the crisis would emerge even stronger and more united.
