The operation aims at deterring and disrupting pirate attacks to protect shipping and enhance security in the territorial waters of Somalia and the Western Indian Ocean region.
The Lithuanian delegate, Lieutenant (Navy) Darius Mickus, deputy commander of the Zemaitis, a patrol vessel of the Patrol Ship Division, Naval Flotilla, Lithuanian Navy, will be serving in the flagship of Operation Ocean Shield commissioned by the Danish Royal Navy.
