The Foreign Minister thanked the Ambassador for his active work in Lithuania and discussed international issues, including the situation in Ukraine, and support to the reform process in the country. The meeting also focused on migration and bilateral cooperation issues.
“Lithuania appreciates the intense political, economic and cultural relations with Italy. We are also close allies in the EU and NATO,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Minister.
L. Linkevičius thanked Italy for its contribution to the safety and security of Lithuania and the Baltic region, and for joining the NATO Mission in Latvia. In addition, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister welcomed the planned participation of the Italian Air Force in NATO's Baltic Air Policing mission in Lithuania this year.
Italy is also Lithuania’s important trading partner.
The Ambassador F. Fransoni is the fifth representative of Italy in Lithuania after the restoration of the country’s independence.
