The President will attend a working lunch for state leaders on Generating Growth for Central and Eastern Europe and deliver an opening address on sustainable economic development in the context of climate change commitments. The President will take part at a round-table debate entitled Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders – An Ascendant Europe to discuss the future of Europe.
During these events hosted for an exclusive circle of leaders, the President will try to draw the attention of European decision-makers to geopolitical challenges, energy and cyber security, Russia’s demonstration of military power, conflicts in Ukraine and Georgia. The President will emphasize the leadership of European countries to restore peace and territorial integrity in conflict-affected Eastern European countries.
While attending the World Economic Forum, the President plans to meet with Georgian Prime Minister Gartari Gakharia to discuss bilateral relations, strengthening of economic ties, security situation in the region and the progress of reforms.
During the visit to Switzerland, the President will meet with the founder of the World Economic Forum, prof. Klaus Schwab to discuss cooperation opportunities and the possible contribution of the World Economic Forum to establishing the fourth industrial revolution research center in Lithuania.
The President will pay special attention to the representation of Lithuania’s economic interests and meet with the leaders of global leadership organization of chief executives YPO and its Lithuanian members. The President will express his support for the YPO’s initiative to participate in the Ocean Race 2021-2022 onboard the Lithuanian yacht Ambersail 2.
The President will meet with executives of multinational enterprises, Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Tadashi Maeda, and Nobel laureate professor of economics Robert Shiller.
A team of President’s advisers will also actively take part in the Davos Economic Forum on 21 through 24 January. Chief Adviser Simonas Krėpšta will give a presentation at the workshop Artificial Intelligence in Financial Services: the Financial Institution of the Future which will highlight Lithuania’s achievements in financial technology, attractive conditions for establishment and development of businesses in our country. The adviser will also meet with executives of global companies considering expansion in Lithuania.
On January 22 the President will travel from Switzerland to Israel to attend the Fifth World Holocaust Forum. It will be attended by top officials from over 40 countries. The ceremony will take place at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Museum in Jerusalem.
