'I think that our companies have a unique opportunity to present textile, jewellery, food and agricultural products as well as make contacts which will facilitate the development of projects beneficial to the Lithuania's business sector,' said Algirdas Stončaitis.
The China International Import Expo presenting products of more than 3000 companies is visited by delegations from more than 170 countries. This is the second time that Lithuanian companies present their products. This year public body Enterprise Lithuania opened two Lithuanian stands.
The Chancellor of the Government emphasised in his opening speech the growing importance of the exhibition not only for China, but for the world as well. The slogan of exhibition 'New Era, Shared Future' reflects the changes that are occurring in the world today.
'Opportunities for cooperation are numerous. This is why even 16 companies from Lithuania participate in the exhibition this year. During this visit two memoranda of understanding will be signed and the start of construction of Lithuania's centre of information and culture in Bengbu will be symbolically marked. This cooperation is in the interest of Lithuanian companies and researchers,' stressed Algirdas Stončaitis.
The Chancellor of the Government met with the representatives of the Lithuanian community in China who study and work there and discussed future perspectives for cooperation with China.
Tomorrow, on Wednesday, the Chancellor of the Government Algirdas Stončaitis will deliver his speech in the Cross-Border eCommerce Conference, meet with the heads of Chinese international trade promotion agency and attend the ceremony of the signing of the Memorandum of cooperation between Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and Jiao Tong University in Shanghai. Rector of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences prof. Remigijus Žaliūnas will represent the Lithuanian side and sign the Memorandum.
'This year marks the start of cooperation between Lithuanian and Chinese universities. There were more Lithuanian universities that attracted the attention of China which gives us reason to believe that cooperation will intensify in the future. I am pleased that one of the best universities in Lithuania, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, and one of the best universities in China, Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, will make an important step towards effective cooperation,' said Algirdas Stončaitis.
The Chancellor of the Government will also visit the Shandong Province, where he will participate in the Lithuania-China conference on laser industry. For several years now, China has been the largest market for Lithuanian laser producers. The conference will focus on the opportunities to foster such cooperation.
