One of the first President’s meetings was with Adena Friedman, CEO of the Nasdaq stock exchange. Activities of Vilnius stock exchange and development opportunities in areas of technology and data analysis were discussed at the meeting.
The President encouraged Nasdaq to intensify its expansion in Lithuania. “In order to create a welfare state, we must look for additional sources of investment, attract financial flows to Lithuania, and focus on the development of a higher value-added economic portfolio. This requires the cooperation of the Lithuanian institutions and, most importantly, their initiative and pro-activeness. I see the untapped potential of Lithuania in attracting businesses from the other side of the Atlantic and creating our own success stories in Lithuania”, said the President.
The meeting focused on Lithuania’s achievements in creating favorable conditions for multinationals to establish and develop their business. A favorable legal framework for licensing Fintech businesses and inter-institutional cooperation to promote development of digital technology ecosystems in Lithuania were also discussed at the meeting. The President introduced artificial intelligence technology solutions implemented in Lithuania, which enhance the work of companies based in Lithuania.
The President and the First Lady visit New York on September 23-26 to attend the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly where the President will deliver a speech on international security and the principles of building welfare states.
The President will also deliver a speech at the Concordia Annual Summit on welfare state in the digital age and will attend a meeting of the world’s largest business companies at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum.
