Regional security and defense issues, Ukraine’s progress in Euro-integration reforms as well as cooperation in areas of security and economy were discussed at the meeting.
“Lithuania and Ukraine enjoy very close political, historical and cultural relations. We strongly support Ukraine’s territorial integrity and its path of the Euro-Atlantic integration. The pace of Euro-Atlantic integration depends on the implementation of necessary reforms,” the President said and expressed hope that Ukraine would take action in areas where fast and resolute decisions were needed.
Economic cooperation in information technology, renewable energy and financial innovation were also on the meeting’s agenda.
“I am delighted that our institutions as well as people, communities, businesses, and regions are engaged in close collaborative work. Bilateral trade and investment are rapidly expanding. We expect the relationship between Lithuania and Ukraine to grow increasingly stronger,” the President said.
The President invited his Ukrainian counterpart to visit Lithuania.
