Semeta highlights that, at the moment, the evaluation of the possible economic measures is being carried out and this is done by the Council of the European Union (EU).
"The package should deter Russia from the further actions (). I think that, if Russia continues escalating the tension or takes any other inadequate actions, the EU will be prepared to take economic measures as well," said Semeta.
At the moment, the EC is analyzing and evaluating how the concrete measures will affect Russia and separate EU member states. The EC tries to understand what measures will be most efficient.
The EC is also prepared to offer the financial assistance to the new Ukraine's Government.
"At the moment, the Commission's attention is focused on the financial assistance to the Ukraine's Government, so that it would implement the needed reforms and would allow improving the conditions for its people. The Commission is ready to offer a huge assistance," said the European Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union, Audit and Anti-Fraud.
