“Latvia is one of the closest countries to Lithuania. We have shared values and interests as well as the same understanding of nowadays challenges or security threats that determine our successful cooperation both on bilateral level and when addressing regional or neighborhood issues, defending our positions and achieving common objectives in the EU and NATO,” said the President in her message of congratulations.
According to the President, Lithuanian and Latvian people are united by the Baltic tradition, shared neighborhood and historic past, spirit of songs and freedom, courageous fights for freedom.
“I am convinced that successful collaboration and friendship between Lithuanians and Latvians and jointly developed cultural, scientific, educational and social projects will continue to be fostered, and new bilateral initiatives, in particular, joint youth activities, will contribute to strengthening the welfare and spirit of the continent,” stressed the President in the message of congratulations.
The President wished the newly elected President continued success and fortitude in performing the important and responsible duties of this position as well as prosperity and concord of the people and the country.
