According to the Association Agreement, Georgia has to transpose about 350 directives, over 2,000 regulations, and about 100 other EU legal acts into national law. It is estimated that about half of all commitments will be implemented until the 2020 parliamentary elections.
"Only by fulfilling its commitments under the Association Agreement, Georgia will be able to take full advantage of the opportunity provided by this document for its rapprochement with the EU," said the Minister L. Linkevičius. He also called on the Chairman of the Parliament to smoothly implement all the reforms necessary for Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration, especially in the field of justice, which would contribute to the consolidation of democracy and the rule of law in the country.
I. Kobakhidze has served as the Chairman of the Parliament since 2016. He is visiting Lithuania at the invitation of the Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania Viktoras Pranckietis. The previous visit of the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia to our country took place in 2013.
