The President and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations, Georgia’s cooperation with the EU and NATO, and boosting response to cyber threats. When addressing security, defense, and cooperation in NATO, the President emphasized that Lithuania firmly supports Georgia’s aspirations of NATO membership.
According to the President, Lithuania welcomed Georgia’s collaboration with the EU. Georgia made huge progress in European integration and implementation of the EU Association and Free Trade Agreement and the visa-free regime with the EU. According to the President, it was important to continue implementation of the critical reforms.
When talking about bilateral economic ties, the President highlighted that cooperation opportunities in the environment, energy efficiency and IT should be exploited better.
According to the President, Lithuania and Georgia were two close nations united by strong friendship among people, willingness to establish close ties and get to know each other. President Salome Zurabishvili of Georgia paid a visit to Lithuania this year. According to the President, that was proof of continued intense relations between Lithuania and Georgia.
Born in 1978, the Georgian Ambassador worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Internal Security Service and held the position of the Head of Protocol at Tbilisi Townhall. As of 2015, he worked as Consul at the Embassy in Vilnius. Ambassador Gvachliani speaks Kartvelian, English, and Russian.
