The President underlined that Lithuania highly values Jens Stoltenberg’s leadership of the Alliance and his consistent efforts to strengthen the defense of Lithuania and other member countries. It has been two years now that NATO’s enhanced forward presence battle groups are deployed to the Baltic States and Poland to deter, to protect the eastern flank, and to safeguard the security of our region and of the whole transatlantic community.
“I firmly believe that the very important decisions made under your leadership have increased the readiness of all allied nations to effectively counter the common threats we all face. Security continues to be an issue of utmost urgency. We are therefore committed to working together with the leaders of the Alliance and with member countries to ensure a consistent and timely implementation of collective defense measures already adopted and to secure an effective, strong and well-prepared NATO,” the President wrote in her message of congratulations.
Lithuania will be soon celebrating 15 years of its membership in NATO and collaborative work with allied nations towards ensuring defense and promoting common values. NATO will soon mark its 70th anniversary, and the President extended her sincere congratulations on this occasion! Dalia Grybauskaitė noted that it was during Jens Stoltenberg’s term in office that Montenegro joined the Alliance, to be followed by North Macedonia in the near future. Today NATO is more relevant than ever as it continues to stand as a strong and committed guarantor of security and stability, ready to defend member countries and global peace.
