"We intend to supplement our effective Lithuanian-Korean political dialogue, strong links between academic institutions and people-to-people contacts with intensified economic cooperation," said L. Linkevičius.
The South Korean Ambassador welcomed the need to strengthen business relations and the growing interest of Lithuanians in studies in South Korea. It is expected that the bilateral Agreement on a Working Holiday Scheme will be signed already this year.
The meeting also discussed the outcomes of the recent meeting between the North Korean leader and the U.S. President in Hanoi, and security situation on the Korean Peninsula.
After the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and South Korea at the end of 2015, Lithuanian companies can successfully export production to this important East Asian market.
The Ambassador Mira Sun is the 14th South Korean diplomatic representative to Lithuania. The Republic of Korea officially recognized Lithuania on 5 September 1991.
