These actions contribute to the implementation of the Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan (YHRP) of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). The UN appealed for $4 billion to cover humanitarian needs in Yemen in 2019.
According to the OCHA, an estimated 24 million people in Yemen are now in need of humanitarian assistance (compared to 22.2 million people in Yemen in 2018). 15 million people require emergency humanitarian assistance, while an estimated 15,9 million are in need of food assistance.
According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), more than 2 million people are internally displaced.
Since 2014, Lithuania has allocated EUR 85,000 for humanitarian aid in Yemen.
