The meeting took place at the headquarters of LITPOLUKRBRIG, a multinational Lithuanian, Polish, and Ukrainian brigade, named after Hetman Konstanty Ostrogski of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The three presidents met with soldiers serving in the brigade.
Strengthening military cooperation was on top of the meeting’s agenda. According to the President, the tri-national brigade is an excellent example of successful military cooperation and an opportunity for Ukraine to come closer to NATO.

LITPOLUKRBRIG actively contributes to a stronger partnership between Ukraine and NATO, better military training, more rapid reform process and full implementation of NATO standards in Ukraine’s armed forces.
Views were exchanged on the security situation in Eastern Ukraine. At the initiative of Lithuania, Poland and other countries, the EU has reached a political consensus on new sanctions against persons responsible for aggressive actions in the Kerch Strait.
Lithuania was among the first to respond to Russia’s open military aggression against Ukraine in the Azov Sea. It introduced national sanctions against Russia immediately after it seized Ukrainian vessels and jailed their crews.
The President emphasized that Lithuania consistently supports Ukraine and provides it all types of political, military, medical, financial and expert support.
In Lublin, the Presidents of Lithuania and Poland attended a symbolic ceremony to commemorate 450 years of the Union of Lublin.
