The Minister Linas Linkevičius presented Lithuania's potential and experience in the fields of economic cooperation, information and financial technology, and cyber security. Lithuania’s Foreign Minister welcomed the latest Lithuanian-Nigerian initiative to train Nigerian information technology specialists in Lithuania, thus contributing to the development of digital technology, experience sharing and education.
Lithuanian information technology companies are already operating on the continent and sharing their experience in implementing e-solutions in the public sector in Rwanda, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and Burundi. Lithuania's innovation implementation contributes to improvements in the local business environment, helps drive significant legislative and regulatory change. The Bank of Lithuania’s initiative to share Lithuania's experience in creating a favorable regulatory environment for financial technology was also presented.
In the meeting, Foreign ministers of the European Union and the African Union adopted a joint communiqué.
Lithuania also participates in the following international operations in Africa: the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), the EU Training Mission in Mali (EUTM Mali), the European Union Training Mission in Central African Republic (EUTM RCA), the EU Naval Force (EU NAVFOR) Operation ATALANTA, and the EUNAVFOR MED Operation SOPHIA.
