The United Nations data show that the conflict in Eastern Ukraine has directly affected 4.4 million people, 3.5 million are in need of humanitarian aid, 10,334 have been killed and 24,901 injured.
Elderly people, women and children make up 70 per cent of those who need humanitarian aid. The key concern is protection and health care of internally displaced people (IDP). These functions are covered by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Ukraine has got about 1.49 million IDP who depend on humanitarian aid.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania has already allocated EUR 295 thousand in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, Yemen, Syria, Somalia, Mali, Guatemala, Palestinian refugees, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund in 2018.
