Dalia Grybauskaitė underlined that Lithuania had felt the President’s strong shoulder at the dawn of its independence and would always remember him as a true friend. He was a highly principled politician who saw the commitment to protect freedom and security as his ultimate duty.
“Having gone through the trials of World War II, the President fought dictatorship and aggression. He did not wait for world peace to happen, he worked to build it. The presidency of George Bush Senior was a time of high hopes for America whose leader stood as sentinel of the new world order,” the Lithuanian President wrote in her message of condolences.
Dalia Grybauskaitė offered her heartfelt condolences to the President’s family, friends and to all Americans.
