The Foreign Affairs Council will assess the outcome of the Geneva II peace conference on Syria as well as the impact of the Syria conflict on the region, especially Lebanon and Iraq. The Ministers will discuss the situations in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya. The Council will also consider recent developments in Yemen and the Central African Republic. At the meeting, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton will present the results of the EU-Russia Summit in Brussels on January 27-28.
The Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Vytautas Leškevičius will attend the General Affairs Council to be held on 11 February in Brussels.
The Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which started on 1 January 2014, will present to the Council its six-month Presidency programme and priorities. The Council will prepare the European Council meeting of 20-21 March, which will focus on the EU's economic growth, competitiveness and jobs, including industrial competitiveness, energy and climate, as well the EU relations with Africa.
