The jet crashed into the sea after taking off from Jakarta. It lost radio contact just 13 minutes into the flight. The plane was travelling to the city of Pangkal Pinang off the island of Sumatra. Whether foreigners were on board is still unclear.
President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended condolences to President Joko Widodo of Indonesia over the loss of hundreds of lives in a passenger plane crash.
The President wished fortitude and endurance as well as unity to the victims’ families and loved ones and to all the people of Indonesia in overcoming the consequences of this tragic accident.
