According to the President, Kofi Annan devoted his life to protection of human rights and peace all over the world. This determined his long-lasting career at the United Nations in mobilizing joint international effort to protect human lives in a number of conflicts, disasters and countries of the world affected by poverty.
The responsible work of Kofi Annan’s life, his goal while holding the post of Secretary-General to strengthen and enable the United Nations to become more effective in supporting peace and humanitarian effort were acknowledged by the Nobel Peace Prize.
In her message of condolences to President Nana Akufo-Addo of the Republic of Ghana, Dalia Grybauskaitė underscored that Kofi Annan would remain as an outstanding model to all people of the world, diplomats, officials of the United Nations, those striving for peace and defending human rights and equality.
Dalia Grybauskaitė offered her heartfelt condolences and wished strength and fortitude to the family members, loved ones, numerous associates and followers of Kofi Annan as well as to all people of Ghana.
