The high-level conference, held at the Lithuanian parliament under the patronage of President Dalia Grybauskaitė, will gather women parliamentarians from all over the world to discuss, together with representatives from business communities, the academia and civil society organizations, women’s engagement in political life, equal economic opportunities, violence against women and ways to prevent it.
Taking part in the summit will be the Presidents of Croatia and Malta, the Prime Minister of Iceland, other current and former heads of state and government who are members of the Council of Women World Leaders chaired by President Dalia Grybauskaitė.
The high-level conference is a traditional gathering of women world parliamentarians held annually in different countries of the world. This year, when Lithuania celebrates 100 years of restored statehood and 100 years of women's voting rights, female political leaders will meet in Lithuania, one of the first European countries granting women full suffrage.
The WPL Summit 2018 will be co-hosted with Women Political Leaders Forum and the Seimas, the Parliament of Lithuania.
