The President underlined that Nelson Mandela was a world symbol of dedication and love for the ideals of freedom and equality. His loss was a huge loss not only to the Republic of South Africa, but also to the whole world.
"Nelson Mandela has always been and will forever remain a source of inspiration to all the people in the world fighting for democracy, human rights and equality. His unrelenting commitment to building a peaceful and democratic Republic of South Africa that is equal to all has not only been recognized by the Nobel Peace Prize, but also serves as a role model for freedom-loving people. Excellency, may I again offer my profound sympathy and that of the people of Lithuania to Mr. Nelson Mandela's family and friends as well as to your entire country," the President wrote in her message of condolences.
