The President pointed out that Lithuania saw Japan as a very important partner, with whom we shared democratic values. According to Dalia Grybauskaitė, it predetermined the success of cooperation between the two nations not only at the bilateral level, but also in international organizations and within the context of relations with the European Union and NATO in addressing common security challenges and developing effective trade contacts.
In her message of congratulations, the President expressed strong hope that Lithuanians and Japanese would make the best of fresh opportunities to build up their inter-cultural awareness as well as their knowledge of respective languages and traditions in order to carry out joint scientific, innovation and technological projects aimed at making both countries stronger.
The President wished the Emperor of Japan continued health and happiness as well as success, well-being and prosperity to his country and its people.
