The meeting focused on items on the bilateral agenda, EU-Morocco relations, cooperation within the United Nations and other international organizations. As regards opportunities for strengthening political, cultural, and economic ties, Linkevičius and the Ambassador agreed that bilateral cooperation needed a solid legal framework and agreed to accelerate the process of negotiating bilateral treaties.
The Ambassador Rouissi highlighted Morocco’s interest in promoting bilateral relations and called for the use of ties with Morocco to enter the African market.
The Ambassador Khadija Rouissi is the sixth Ambassador of Morocco accredited to Lithuania, who resides in Copenhagen. The Honorary Consulate of Morocco, headed by Linas Aldonis, was opened in Kaunas in 2012. Abdallah Raji has served as the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Casablanca since 2006.
Lithuania and Morocco established their diplomatic relations 25 years ago, on 7 May 1992.
