In his letter of congratulations, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister emphasizes the importance of the strategic partnership between Lithuania and the U.S. that aims at further strengthening our bilateral ties in various fields, including energy security. Linkevičius thanked the U.S. for a shipment of liquefied natural gas, which had reached the Port of Klaipėda from the U.S. for the second time this year.
According to Lithuania’s Foreign Minister, the appointment of the President of the Centre for European Policy Analysis, who is also a Baltic security expert, as the new Assistant Secretary of State will step up the U.S. diplomatic efforts to maintain the unity of the Euro-Atlantic community in the face of current challenges.
Mitchell replaced Ambassador Victoria Nuland. It is expected that the U.S. will maintain its close cooperation with Lithuania.
