“Lithuania is not indifferent to Moldova’s future. However, it is important for both us and the people of Moldova to see results in the implementation of reforms,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Minister. The Lithuanian Foreign Minister highlighted that Moldova was an important partner of Lithuania and of the EU, but this cooperation depended on the speed of the implementation of reforms in the country. Linkevičius stressed that Lithuania, like the European Union as a whole, encouraged Moldova’s authorities to respect European values and to make progress in implementing the Association Agreement. It is especially important to ensure the independence of the judiciary, to fight against money laundering effectively, and to strengthen freedom of the media.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Moldova. The diplomatic relations were established on 8 July 1992.
