“As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Ghana, we seek to strengthen bilateral cooperation with one of West Africa’s most stable democracies. We hope that an Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement will create a more favourable environment for Lithuanian businesses in search of opportunities in Ghana,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister Darius Skusevičius.
During the first bilateral political consultations, officials agreed to strengthen bilateral relations in the fields of politics, culture, education, and economics, and to expand the legal framework for bilateral relations, which would allow for more active cooperation between the two countries’ businesses. Members of the delegation of Ghana took special interest in Lithuania’s possibilities in the fields of biomass energy, fertilizer production, transport, wood processing, information technology, environmental protection, as well as expressed their wish to organize a business mission to Ghana.
Ghana has a population of nearly 27 million people and is one of Africa’s most stable democracies. Lithuania and Ghana established diplomatic relations in 1992. Lithuania, together with Ghanaian peacekeepers, participates in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). The Honorary Consul of Lithuania Arturas Roškovskis has represented Lithuania in Ghana since 2015.
