German finance minister Wolfgang Schäuble, Italy’s Pier Carlo Padoan, Dutch counterpart Jeroen Dijsselbloem and Irish representative Paschal Donohoe discussed the measures taken in the wake of the Panama papers leak during the meeting on 11 July with Parliament's inquiry committee looking into the revelations. The ministers also shared their views on the EU's latest initiatives to tackle tax evasion.
After the Panama leaks in April 2016, Parliament decided in June to set up a Panama papers inquiry committee to assess how the European Commission and member states have been fighting money laundering and tax evasion. The committee's final report should be ready by the end of this year.
