Kazakhstan is an important economic partner of Lithuania in Central Asia. Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister and Vasilenko were pleased that this year marked a significant event in our bilateral relations – the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Kazakhstan.
The interlocutors welcomed our close bilateral cooperation and agreed to continue to fully exploit the possibility of cooperation also in the future.
“Kazakhstan and Lithuania are bound together in all sorts of ways. They engage in constructive political and economic relations, and actively cooperate within international organizations and multilateral forums. We see a big potential for strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of trade and transport,” said Skusevičius.
During the visit to Kazakhstan, Skusevičius met with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian at the margins of an extraordinary meeting of the EU member states and discussed relevant issues related to the EU cooperation with the countries of the region.
Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister visited the National Research Medical Centre of Astana. The head of the centre is the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Astana Baygenzhin Abai. The centre cooperates actively with Lithuanian medical institutions.
On 23 June, Skusevičius will participate in the celebration of Lithuania’s National Day at the international exhibition Astana EXPO 2017.
