Lithuania’s Foreign Minister noted that the entry into force of the EU visa-free travel opened up new opportunities for Ukrainians. Linkevičius also that Lithuania would continue to fully support Ukraine’s European reforms.
The Ukrainian President informed Linkevičius that he had just visited eastern Ukraine and drew attention to the fact that security situation in Donbass had deteriorated since the beginning of April. Especially great concerns are raised over attacks on schools and hospitals, and increasing numbers of civilian casualties. Poroshenko said that Russia’s continuing aggression did not allow to build peace and implement the Minsk agreements.
During the visit to Kyiv, the Lithuanian and Swedish Foreign Ministers also met with the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Olena Zerkal and the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Anastasia Deeva to discuss issues related to Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration. Linkevičius and Wallström also met with the Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Vadym Chernysh and Ukraine’s civil society representatives, and opened the Sweden-Ukraine Business Forum together with the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv.
