The development of bilateral relations in the areas of economy, energy, and tourism, cooperation between the European Union and Indonesia, global security and migration challenges - these will be the main issues discussed by the President and the leaders of Indonesia.
Indonesia, with a population of over 250 million, is the world’s 8th largest economy and a member of G-20. Therefore, economic relations between Lithuania and Indonesia will be in the focus of the President’s meetings. Agreements on cooperation in agriculture, energy, transport and tourism will be signed. This will open new opportunities for the Lithuanian businesses interested in exporting dairy and meat products, solar batteries and other products to establish themselves in the fast growing Indonesian market.
During the President’s visit, Jakarta will host the first bilateral energy forum to exchange experience on the operation of LNG terminals and discuss cooperation opportunities in the area of renewable energy. Indonesia is the 4th largest exporter of liquefied natural gas in the world.
During her trip to Southeast Asia, the President will also visit Thailand to meet with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Dalia Grybauskaitė and the Princess will discuss the development of relations between Lithuania and Thailand in the fields of economy, science, education, and culture. Last year, the Princess of Thailand was on an official visit to Lithuania.
In Bangkok, Dalia Grybauskaitė will open a children’s book illustrations exhibition featuring works of internationally known Lithuanian artists Kęstutis Kasparavičius, Stasys Eidrigevičus, Nomeda Marčėnaitė and others.
