The representatives of the EU and Russia will also discuss the issues of fight against transnational crime including law enforcement cooperation as well as review on the cooperation situation in the spheres of migration and mobility and the future perspective of drug control. Besides, the parties will also exchange opinions on the issues of judicial cooperation.
The meeting in Brussels will be attended by the high level experts of the European Commission, European External Action Service as well as from Lithuania currently presiding the EU Council, Greece which is to take over the Presidency and from Russian Federation. Lithuania will be represented by the officials from the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice.
The meeting in Brussels will be in fact the first meeting to be held between the Senior officials of the JHA sphere of the EU and Russia. The EU and Russian representatives have recently agreed that alongside with the annual ministerial meetings of both countries, high level expert meetings should also take place. It is planned that this kind of meetings will be organized on regular basis (at least once a year). This will contribute to upholding of the relations as well as to the continuity of cooperation in between the EU-Russian minister level meetings in the Permanent Partnership Council for Justice, Freedom and Security issues.
