Linkevičius affirmed Lithuania’s commitment to continue to strengthen the strategic partnership between Lithuania and the U.S. working together with the new U.S. administration, and to make the most of the new opportunities for this partnership.
The meeting discussed the areas of possible cooperation on cyber security issues, especially in ensuring cyber security at energy facilities.
“Cyberwars are the wars of the future, so we must be ready”, said Giuliani.
Linkevičius informed Giuliani about the successful implementation of energy infrastructure projects in Lithuania, as well as progress in improving the country’s cyber security.
“It is no coincidence that NATO centres that address the rise of new threats to the energy sector, as well as cyber security and information security threats are located in the Baltic states. This shows that our professionalism has been recognised and that the allies have confidence in us,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Minister.
The former mayor of New York City reiterated his interest in visiting Lithuania in the near future to become better acquainted with the cyber security situation and to inspect the liquefied natural gas terminal in Klaipėda.
