“Lithuania is a valued NATO Ally that leads by example through your commitment to our shared defense, as evidenced by increasing your defense spending to achieve NATO’s agreed benchmark. In addition, Lithuania’s contributions to joint efforts in Afghanistan and to countering ISIS further demonstrate its commitment to advancing global security,” he underlined.
The President of the United States described Lithuania as a leader in promoting democracy and strengthening the transatlantic community. He emphasized that Lithuania’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as its efforts to increase energy diversification, advanced our shared goal to enhance European and regional security.
