In her message of congratulations, the President wrote that Lithuania and the United States were the closest allies bound by shared belief in democracy and human rights and strong commitment to deal with today's security, terrorism, economic and political challenges. She underscored that together we stood ready to defend the freedom and interests of our citizens and to develop joint projects aimed at ensuring the well-being of our people.
Dalia Grybauskaitė expressed hope to have the opportunity to meet President Trump in the near future and discuss in the spirit of exceptional friendship that existed between both nations the relationship between the United States and Lithuania and the guidelines for transatlantic cooperation.
