The Snow Meeting, organized for the tenth time, is the most important foreign policy forum that takes place in Lithuania. Politicians, diplomats, globally recognized experts and journalists from Lithuania, Europe and the U.S. share their experience and insights. This year’s focus is on the challenges for liberal democracies and the Euro Atlantic community.
The President and the international experts reviewed the global and regional security situation, the implementation of decisions taken at the NATO summit in Warsaw as well as discussed the means for enhancing cyber security and information security of Lithuania and Europe and preventing the spread of fake news.
The President underscored that standing up for democratic values and defending truth demanded concerted efforts of politicians, diplomats, experts, the media and society. In the face of coordinated information and cyber-attacks against the Euro Atlantic community, including Lithuania, the responsible insights of political analysts help properly assessing the security situation, teaching people to resist lies and propaganda as well as predicting and countering the emerging threats.
Last year, Dalia Grybauskaitė decorated General Philip M. Breedlove with the Cross of Commander of the Order for Merits to Lithuania for his personal contribution to strengthening the security of our country.
