Lithuania urges the Syrian Government to allow a group of United Nations experts to immediately and impartially examine the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria. Lithuania is extremely concerned and continues to monitor the situation in Syria, as well as information regarding the use of chemical weapons in the Damascus area on 21 August, which caused multiple civil casualties. The use of weapons of mass destruction is a crime against humanity, and is therefore an act that demands condemnation and an appropriate response by the international community.
