Minister R. Karoblis underscored the importance of defence and security cooperation with Israel to Lithuania, which is evident from the recent increase in cooperation between the two countries’ defence industries and the number of defence procurements from Israel. Minister R.Karoblis and Ambassador A. Maimon also discussed the prospects of arranging political-military consultations between Lithuania and Israel with respect to the expanded cooperation in procurement.
Other topics addressed at the meeting were possible areas of cooperation between Lithuania and Israel, such as training of reserve units, operation of conscript system, fight against terrorism, cyber security, and memorialisation of the Jews who fought for Lithuania’s freedom.
The Ambassador handed over to the Minister a letter in which the Minister of Defence of Israel congratulates him with the new office and invites to visit Israel.
