President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended her condolences and those of the Lithuanian people to German Federal President Joachim Gauck on the passing of former President Roman Herzog.
In her message, Dalia Grybauskaitė underlined that at the critical period following the unification of Germany, President Roman Herzog made a huge contribution to maintaining solidarity in German society and across Europe.
She further wrote that Roman Herzog would remain in the hearts of German citizens and all European as a highly respected lawyer and political leader, a great example of moral integrity who called for the recognition of history and consolidation of German and European societies that stand up for human rights.
The President conveyed her condolences to Roman Herzog’s family and loved ones, and to Germany.
