Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulated the Ambassador on assuming her position and welcomed the long-term and strong partnership between Lithuanian and the U.S., an intensive agenda of bilateral relations, the abundance of visits and events, as well as the growth of Lithuania’s exports to the United States. Linkevičius also expressed hope that they would work together to further strengthen the mutually beneficial relations.
During the meeting, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the transatlantic relationship and the need for the U.S. leadership in Europe.
“Lithuania highly appreciates the strategic partnership of Lithuania and the United States and support for the implementation of security measures in the region. The U.S. presence in Lithuania is particularly important for reliable deterrence,” said Linkevičius.
The interlocutors also discussed the outcome of the Warsaw Summit and the decision on the enhanced forward presence of NATO troops in the Baltic countries and Poland. They exchanged views on the situation in eastern Ukraine and Syria, and nuclear safety issues.
Ambassador Hall also met with the Foreign Vice-Minister Neris Germanas. After holding the meetings at the Foreign Ministry, the Ambassador presented her letters of credence to the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė.
