The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania welcomes the determination of the Georgian Government to immediately start an investigation of the occurrence, calls on the Government to find and punish the perpetrators, and on all the political forces to take action to end the scourge of violence and to take measures to prevent provocation in order to ensure democratic elections in a safe and secure environment.
Lithuania stresses that it is necessary to provide continuity in ensuring standards for democratic election for a stable and prosperous Georgia, and for its European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Provocation and violent incidents should not jeopardize the consolidation of Georgia’s significant progress.
