In the meeting, the head of the Lithuanian diplomacy acquainted his Cuban counterpart with possibilities of Lithuania’s economy, offered to enhance cooperation in the field of culture and to promote student exchanges. Linkevičius invited the head of Cuban diplomacy to pay a visit to Lithuania, and the latter invited Lithuania’s Foreign Minister to Cuba.
In the meeting, the officials discussed relations between Cuba and the European Union, and between Cuba and the U.S.
On the same day, Linkevičius met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation and ways to strengthen bilateral relations. Linkevičius stressed that Lithuania was interested in promoting official business ties and people-to-people contacts with Ethiopia, and invited Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister to visit Lithuania.
The Foreign Ministers discussed challenges facing Africa and Europe, including problems caused by illegal immigration.
Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister presented his candidacy for the post of the Director-General of the World Health Organization and requested Lithuania’s support.
