Together with the international community, Lithuania continues to monitor closely the investigation of this incident, alongside its impact on the overall security situation. Increasing regularity of the North Korea's nuclear tests and ballistic missile launches adds to a growing rational concern of all members of the international community. Lithuania strongly condemns the recurring negligent actions on the North Korea’s part. These actions violate DPRK’s international legal obligations and are extremely destabilizing to the security situation in the region and beyond.
North Korea is legally bound by the UN Security Council resolutions that require the DPRK to completely and irreversibly cease its weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs, that pose a serious threat to the international peace and security.
Lithuania calls upon the on international community to step up the pressure on the DPRK to cease its irresponsible behavior and fully comply with all provisions of the UN Security Council resolutions and implement its other international legal obligations.
