Peru and the EU have developed over the past years a successful cooperation across a wide range of areas, including on trade and economic matters, climate change, the fight against drugs and the fostering of political and economic reforms. We are looking forward to engaging with the future government on these and other matters of interest.
The EU has been observing the entire electoral process for the third time after 2001 and 2011, accompanying Peru in its return to democracy and political stabilisation. The recommendations of the Election Observation Mission (EOM) offered for consideration by the Chief Observer Renate Weber can be a valuable support to necessary electoral reforms, further strengthening the Peruvian democracy.
